Well it differs at each school, but it’s basically the time when girls interested in sororities (called potential new members, or PNM’s) go around to the different houses and talk with a few actives in each house. If you get invited back each day then you’ll talk with more girls. It’s a time to see which house you “fit” into and to see what the girls in each house are like and which one you would like to be a part of! Sorry if that didn’t really make sense, I tried to not make it sound too complicated, and I’m not sure why I had such a hard time explaining it haha! To your second question, some sororities are selective and some aren’t, it again just depends on which sorority and the school you’re going through rush at too. About 99% of the time a house will not invite someone back because of grades, no matter how much they liked you. Most of the time that’s a policy that they have to follow…you can’t have girls that are “grade risks” and would potentially bring down your chapter GPA. I know that might sound bad but grades is one thing the sororities are rated on to get their seal of approval each year and if they don’t get it, it’s really bad. I recommend going through rush your freshman year of college mainly because the houses go off your high school GPA which is typically pretty high since it’s high school. I mean, you want the best chance to get in your number 1 choice of houses!!
